iPhone and iPad

There has been much hype around the iPhone and the iPad over the past three or four years. They have shaken the foundations and competition in the mobile industry and are forcing everyone to stay on their toes.

We won’t be having a serious look at the iPad here, but concentrate more on the iPhone 4. The iPhone 5 is just around the corner and it sounds like it is going to be a monster…

But let’s get down to what you can get your hands on currently. The leader of the pack for the time being is the iPhone 4. It is the fourth generation of the iPhone smartphone and its most recent successor was the iPhone 3GS. The main hype around the iPhone 4 is for video calling, known as FaceTime, and all manners of online media use (movies, games, music, web and e-mail).

The phone was released on the 24th of June 2010 in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan. The phone runs on the Apple iOS operating system. This OS is standard across the iPad and iPod Touch as well and navigation happens primarily through the touchscreens on the devices.

The Standard features on the phone include:
- An un-insulated steel frame which is the device’s antenna
- An Apple A4 processor
- 512MB of eDRAM
- 3.5″ LED back-lit display (960×640 resolution)

The latest operating systems on the phones are iOS 4.3.5 (for GSM) and 4.2.10 (for CDMA).

Apple are definitely not waiting for things to happen or looking to see what the competition comes up with. Steve Jobs an company will continue to innovate and create amazing new brands. We just need to keep our eyes peeled to see what comes next…
