Samsung Galaxy

The Samsung Galaxy has made the mobile communication environment a very interesting one. Normally you would see someone innovating something brilliant and the others merely try to catch up. That is what happened with the iPhone and most companies who tried to emulate them. It was just a game of catching up… until Samsung decided to play along.

The Samsung Galaxy range has been refreshing in a very competitive mobile market. It has brought amazing performance and usability that has no equals. It stands out head and shoulders above the rest. Then on top of this you can get your hands on millions of free apps because it runs on Android! Not bad.

Let’s have a look at the Samsung Galaxy and its amazing rise to fame (infamy is a better word though). The Galaxy S was the first version release in March 2010 and it is an Android smartphone. It featured the following:
- 1 GHz ARM “Hummingbird” processor
- 8-16GB internal Flash memory
- 4″ 480×800 Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- 5-megapixel camera

The whole thing started with the GT-I9000, which was soon followed by the Epic 4G, Vibrant, Captivate, Fascinate, and Mesmerize.

In my opinion it is still one of the most amazing phones when it comes to graphics and this is mainly due to its PowerVR graphics processor. The processor yields 20 million triangles per second, which made it the fastest of all graphics processors at the time of release. As another first, it was also the first to be certified for DivX HD and came in at only 9.9mm as the thinnest smart phone out there.

By the start of 2011, just over 10 million Samsung Galaxy S phones had been sold globally and it picked up numerous awards along the way.

The Samsung Galaxy S II is also making a meal of all the other smartphones out there. It is totally insane and it would be ludicrous to think that anyone would catch them any time soon when it comes down to performance.

With other delightful toys like the Galaxy Tab, they are really throwing down the gauntlet to the iPhone and any others who dare try and compete with them.
